Not only water slides: the renovation of the Tournesol Dome

These are months of great excitement at Dieresin: the new water park season is just around the corner, and our team is working hard to finalize attractions for both adults and children. The most important challenge this year has been the renovation of the Tournesol dome at “Camping Birkelt” in Larochette, a national monument protected by Luxembourg’s Environmental Heritage.

The goal of the project was to structurally and statically upgrade the building to meet current standards and requirements. An innovative structure made of reinforced and fireproof fiberglass allows Dieresin to enter previously unexplored production sectors. This project presented a significant technical challenge, characterized by many uncertainties due to the novel use of thick reinforced fiberglass components.

Creativity and innovation Made in Italy

For over 30 years, Dieresin has been designing and creating original and captivating slides, water games, and water parks.

We have collaborated with some of the most important water parks in Europe and the world, such as “Caribe Bay,” the popular Caribbean-themed water park in Jesolo Lido, for which we created some of the most beloved attractions, and the new water park in Jamaica, “Princess Grand Jamaica,” a Princess group facility that enhanced its offerings with a play castle for children and a structure with four water slides, all themed in Jamaican style.
In recent years, the growing return on investment in the amusement sector, especially in the “water attractions world,” is involving small, medium, and large hospitality structures. Today, everyone wants to provide a “plus” to their clientele, embracing an increasingly wide age range.

Some examples

Terme di Giunone,” the historic baths of Caldiero, have expanded their game offerings with a large, yet-to-be-completed facility, featuring a body slide and two super adrenaline-pumping attractions for paired descents on two-seater rafts: the Water Roller Coaster and the Wave Ride.

The super water castle at “Terme di Jezercica,” an expansion of the play area entirely dedicated to children but not exclusively. The structure reaches almost 15 meters in height and features seven different attractions with various special effects. In Italy, investments are made not only in amusement but also in theming.

For example, Camping “Le Capanne” in Bibbona, Livorno, offers its clientele a mega lagoon themed as a sandcastle with eight water slides, some fast, others for children, to please everyone, along with a giant bucket for unexpected showers. “Aretusa Park” in Melilli, Syracuse, also enriched the park with a fully themed lagoon featuring wave movement, a galleon, and slides for children.

These installations exemplify how the world of water slides and amusement is increasingly used in architecture as an added value, not just for fun. Recreational attractions are now essential in every hospitality reality: people are increasingly seeking exciting and surprising entertainment opportunities.

Our team is alongside our clients to design and create original and adrenaline-pumping slides and water games, rigorously complying with current regulations and guaranteeing entirely made in Italy production.
