Tournesol Dome

Our team was responsible for the renovation and restoration of the Tournesol dome at the Birkelt campsite in Larochette, a national monument protected by Luxembourg’s Environmental Heritage.

The goal was to statically and structurally adapt the building to current needs and regulations.

A complex process that involved several steps:

• The demolition of the existing fiberglass dome,
• The development of the executive project for reconstruction,
• The making of the various fiberglass molds to replace the original structure,
• production of the dome elements using the latest technology in the industry,
• the creation of a novel sandwich structure with specific reinforcements (“core”) and a very extensive use of fire retardant resins.

The project, commissioned by Human Company, resulted from collaboration with companies specializing in various fields.
